Starwood Hotels and Resorts has announced the appointment of Julia Harnischfeger as general manager of the company’s new 252-room Aloft London ExCeL hotel, which is scheduled to open in October 2011.

Harnischfeger has been with Starwood Hotels since 2007, when she was named the first Six Sigma manager for Le Méridien Piccadilly and the former Café Royal in London. In 2009, she was promoted to the role of director of operational innovation for Starwood’s six hotels in England.

Before joining Starwood, Harnischfeger worked as an analyst for Conrad Hotels in Brussels, Belgium, and later as reception manager and director of front office at The Conrad Chelsea Harbour in London.
